Control 4.4 and later versions have been reworked to comply with the [[pci-dss_compliance|PCI-DSS]] standards. Upgrading from a pre 4.4 version requires a few actions from an administrator to meet these standards. This page will guide you through the process.

Payment information is modified during this process may not show properly if the upgrade process is mishandled.



===== Steps =====


  - Install and setup the C3S Host application. Follow this link for details: [[cyrious_credit_card_service_c3s]].


  - Update the control.exe, SSLIP.exe, SystemData.mdb, and SystemConfig.mdb files.


  - Start the SSLIP. After the SSLIP completes its initialization process, it will automatically run the CS3Host application. The C3SHost application will appear in the taskbar as a blue-green Cyrious icon. If the C3SHost does not appear, follow this link to troubleshoot: [[cyrious_credit_card_service_c3s]].


  - Start Control.


  - Login into Control. For the initial setup of Control 4.4, an administrator is required to login first. Anyone else will be forced to log off and prompted to get an administrator to login.


  - After logging in, Control will inform the user that as required by the [[pci-dss_compliance|PCI-DSS]] standards, a password is needed to encrypt sensitive credit card information. This password is separate from the login password. *** WARNING: This password is used for encrypting information and when changed, previously encrypted information will not be recoverable.**


  - After entering the password, Control will inform the user that a short phrase is needed in order to prevent an unauthorized changing of the password. * **WARNING: Without this phrase, the password CANNOT be changed in the future.**


  - Once the password and phrase are entered, a dialog will appear informing the user that existing payment information must be updated. The dialog will give an estimate on how long the process will take. The user has the option to continue or cancel if time does not permit the update at the moment. If canceled, Control will shut down. This process mus be performed before Control 4.4 can be used. If the update cannot be performed at the time, Control must be reverted to the previous version and the backup of the database restored due to the new employee password changes made. Control 4.4 passwords are not compatible with earlier versions.


  - All default credit card information will be updated in the database at this point. **Do NOT close Control during this time.**


  - Once updated, Control will open and a small popup will appear (if there is any credit card information stored in existing payments) indicating that historical payments will be updated at this point. The update can be stopped and resumed later if the user needs to perform any pressing tasks now. Follow this link for details on the update process: [[historical_payment_updates_for_pci]].
